Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. The topic this week concerns the words/topics that would make me instantly buy a book. I had a bit of trouble, as I'm more of a me likey pretty cover type person, and this list is more phrases than words, but I got there in the end.
1. Rampaging Horde of Zombie Cows
2. Another Dimension
3. Psychopaths
4. Secret Organisations
5. Doomsday Machine
6. Absurd
7. Hell Train
8. Haunted Houses
9. Malfunctioning Granny
10. Spontaneous Toy Combustion
What Was on Your List This Week?
This is one hell of a list. Very unique and I'd be interested to read a book about a Rampaging Horde of Zombie Cows. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :) You should try Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan, I picked it up because of the title!
DeleteMe too, must know more about the rampaging zombie cows! Malfunctioning granny, too -- I guarantee you that I'd read a book about that. :)

Then you should try Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan. It's set in Scotland, following a vegan, a guy who works in an abattoir and a rubbish journalist, who have to deal with cows going all red eyed and crazy. Pretty fun stuff. And the malfunctioning granny is from Madeline Ashby's vN, which is a great read :)
DeleteOMG, your list made me laugh incredibly hard! Are there books out there that actually fall into #1, #7, #9, & #10?! Another dimension and secret organizations are definitely faves (I forgot to put those on my list) and I like a *good* haunted house story, but it's hard to find one that is more psychological suspense than horror (which is what I prefer).
ReplyDeleteThanks! Indeed there are actual books that fall into these topics/have these phrases in their blurbs!
Delete#1 Apocalypse Cow - Michael Logan
#7 Hell Train - Christopher Fowler
#9 vN - Madeline Ashby
#10 The Toyminator - Robert Rankin (sequel to The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse)
Umm, Malfunctioning Granny? I don't know what that means, but I think it'd make me pick up that a book too, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's from an Angry Robot title: vN by Madeline Ashby. Highly recommend it as I thought all the technical stuff was going to go over my head but it didn't and I couldn't put the book down.
